Worldwide recognition

Internationally renowned and award winning S.B. (Bob) Tomanovic has exhibited in cities around the world like New York, Zürich, Amsterdam, Tokyo and The Hague.

His works of art is owned by collectors around the world. One of his paintings has been acquired for the official residence of the Dutch Prime Minister in the Hague, the “Catshuis”.

Master work

The work of Tomanovic has a connection with great masters like Leonardo da Vinci and Joseph Mallord William Turner. Tomanovic especially mastered and refined Turner’s ‘wet on wet’ techniques. Tomanovic managed to create his own style of overwhelming paintings.

Master teacher

Bob gives master workshops, seminars and painting lessons allover Europe. He is well known for his special aquarelle technique (“wet on wet”) and “wet-on- wet” water-soluble oil painting technique.

He wrote several books about his painting techniques, like “Meester van de Compositie” (“Master of the Composition”), “Gouden Tips voor de Aquarellist” (“Golden Tips for the Aquarelle Painter”) and “Touching Eternity”. These books were well received and were sold out quickly.

In the year 2020 he published his famous book “Master of Visual Composition” on the English speaking market. In this book Bob describes in detail how the compositional language works. This knowledge is perfectly applicable at all levels, from amateur painters to professional artists.

Translucent

He developed techniques to portray both realistic and stunning cosmic sceneries, plus amazing blends of these styles, and transparent / translucent effects as can be seen in his Venice series. Using the latest highest quality paints in combination with pigments and other materials, this lead to Tomanovic’s astonishing style.

Background

Tomanovic studied at the School of Industrial Design and later at the Academy of Arts. Tomanovic has a unique knowledge of water-colour technique, and oil water – soluble wet on wet painting technique that he invented himself.

Bob Tomanovic is a member of the BBK, de Beroepsvereniging Beeldende Kunstenaars (a professional union of artists in The Netherlands). He is also member of the GCC, the Global Culture Center, a world wide union of artists with head quarters in Tokyo, Japan. The GCC organizes every year a big exhibition in a different capital, such as Seoul, Osaka, Tokyo, Paris, San Francisco and Mexico City.

Hofvijver

One of his paintings hangs at the Dutch Parliament Building in the Hague. Another painting “Hofvijver”(see photo) was bought for the then departing Dutch Prime Minister Wim Kok. An exhibition in Aardenburg was opened by the Belgium Vice-President and Minister of Tourism, Mr. Landuit.

Japanese award

Bob Tomanovic won an award of the big Japanese industrial city Kawaguchi near Tokyo.

On invitation of the city, he stayed in Japan for 50 days, to make a big painting for the Kawaguchi Comprehensive Cultural Center Lilia.

It turned into a big piece of art of about 4 x 1 meter. It was received with big enthousiasm.
